By the end of Grade 3 students can:
- Greet and take leave of others in culturally appropriate ways.
- Communicate basic information about themselves and their families
- Ask and answer simple questions about family, animals, likes, and dislikes.
- Exchange some personal information including name, age, birthday, and where they live.
- Exchange basic information about family with the help of visuals.
- Express basic agreement and disagreement.
Students can understand and interpret writing and speech on a variety of topics in Arabic.
By the end of Grade 3 students can:
- Read and understand a few words and phrases with the help of visuals.
- Understand and respond to simple routine oral directions and instructions related to daily classroom activities.
- Understand and respond to simple requests in various familiar settings (playground, school, home, public places, etc.).
- Recognize and sometimes understand, based on the skill of listening, basic information in words and phrases memorized.
- Recognize pieces of information: often understand words, phrases, and simple sentences related to everyday life.
- Listen and sometimes understand simple questions or statements on familiar topics related to biographical information, such as names and ages.
Students will present information, concepts, and ideas to listeners and/or readers on a variety of topics in the language studied.
By the end of Grade 3 students can:
- Introduce themselves and give basic biographical information.
- Sing simple songs from the target culture of Arabic.
- Name things and animals that they like and do not like.
