Market Day يوم التسوق
Dear families, The final unit in World Language is the market. In class students are learning phrases to buy and sell things in a market. In order to practice these new phrases we are going to set up our own market in class. Students will have a table to sell their items. Students can bring in things from home or make things to sell. They will have a class period in school to work with their partner to make items. Students will be given fake paper money to buy items from other students. Any items they buy they get to keep. Items they sell they don’t get back. Items for Market Day need to be approved by guardians first. Possible ideas: Things you don’t want or use anymore

Shukran! !شُكراً Dear parents and guardians! Marhaba!
Happy Fall! I am happy to have your child in my class this school year. This is the second of my regular Arabic class newsletters. You can find the first newsletter in this link: https://mrsbasuni.weebly.com/newsletter These letters give an overview of what your child is studying in the Arabic class. We are using a lot of authentic materials such as YouTube videos, sorties, song, etc. to engage students’ imagination and reinforcing language concepts. 3rd grade: Students are working diligently in Arabic classes. They continue to build on their vocabulary by listening and repeating new words. They learned how to ask someone (how are you?= kaifa alhal?) and answer using three different words (Good= bekheer, Tired= taaban or taabana, Sick= mareed and mareeda). This month we are working on the numbers 0-10 and describing the weather using 4 words. Mrs. Blumer’s class earns their first celebration in the Arabic classroom. 4th grade: Students are working on introducing themselves using at least 6 sentences. They are also able to express their feelings using at least 7 words by now. In this level, students are working on recognizing and use appropriate register/honorifics in a limited number of simple social situations such as greetings, level-talking, and introductions. When students are be able to pronounce the words correctly and using them in the correct content, then they will be able to recognize some of the alphabet letters. 5th grade: Students are working on expressing their feelings using only the Arabic language. They are able to listen and understand simple information when accompanied by pictures or hints from the teacher. They are able to communicate using memorized phrases and words. They will be able to express needs, interest likes and dislikes in brief conversations. Soon we will start working on recognizing some alphabet letters and short and long vowels. Please feel free to reach out via email if you have any questions or concerns: [email protected] Marhaba/ Greetings Families,
These first weeks of school have been busy with community building, problem-solving, and establishing routines in our classroom. The Arabic program this year started strong. Thank you for your support and amazing help that you provided for me and my students. I was very impressed with my students this year with the amount of words and phrases that they still remember from last year. My students in 3rd grade are enjoying learning about the language, music and information about Arabic speaking countries and people. They learned how to write their names in Arabic. Many of them started writing their names in Arabic in other classes. We also have been learning some songs and playing games to learn new Arabic vocabulary. As of Today we are learning about expressing our feelings when someone asking "how are you?" and how to answer using three words: Good, Tired and Sick. They also learned how to greet others using Marhaba= Hi & Masa Alkheer= Good afternoon. Soon, we will start learning the numbers and days of the week. My fourth and fifth grade working on introdcuing themselves and sing Kun anta song please check the link to listen to the song: https://safeshare.tv/my/safeviews/ss59d3c2c8b97af/play third graders are enjoying this song as well. We are also working on expressing our feelings and ask others "how are you?" In fourth grade we are learning 6 words and 10 words in 5th grades about feelings. Students know how to talk about themselves using short sentences all in Arabic. |
